Coach Caliendo in Rome Italy on Caliendo Sports softball tour discussing with Coach Anadio of Herkemer College National Champion and Amanda Fifield of Ballston Spa HS State Champion on player development and the benefits of an international sports trip.
Peter Anadio
Herkimer College has appointed Peter Anadio as head coach for women’s basketball for the 2015-2016 season, replacing coach Bradley Gouger after three years.
Anadio’s coaching experience at Herkimer spans nine seasons, beginning with the baseball team as a special advisor during their run for a championship in the 2006 NJCAA World Series. It transitioned to assistant coach thereafter with both baseball and men’s basketball, helping those programs to four Region III Championships.
The Gloversville, NY native then got his first crack as a head coach in 2010, for the softball program. Within two seasons, Anadio captured his first of three consecutive Region III Championships (2012, 2013 and 2014), then secured the program’s first ever national championship in 2013 which came with numerous accolades.
Success also followed Anadio to the bowling lanes in his second season as head coach in 2012 with an all-events national championship. That momentum continued in 2013 with a singles, doubles and all-events national champion, totaling four individual titles in his first three seasons.
Having earned the reputation of being one of the top coaches at an athletically and academically-rich institution, Anadio totaled five combined individual and team national championships between softball and bowling, and seven Region III Championships between basketball, baseball and softball.
“I would like to thank the Herkimer College Administration and the athletic administration for this great opportunity and having faith in me to carry out the mission of this institution and do what I do best,” said Anadio. “It’s a privilege to come here to Herkimer every day and work with some of the best coaches, faculty, staff, administrators and athletes that our area has to offer. My success comes as a direct result from surrounding myself with some incredible people. And that starts with my amazing family, my wife Jamie, my son Evan and trickles on down to great assistant coaches and players. I’m excited about this new opportunity and the challenge that it brings!”
Director of Athletics Donald Dutcher reiterated this by saying, “I have total confidence in P.J. Anadio taking over our Women’s Basketball program and leading us to a top contender in the region within the next two or three years. His dedication, passion and commitment to student-athletes, Herkimer College and the athletic programs are proven in his success as a coach in other programs for us!”
