Hosted by Peter M. Caliendo, Former USA Baseball National Team Coach and Skills Development Coach.
This show is for coaches of all levels, players and also parents that need to be better educated in their sons or daughters development. After 35 plus years of coaching in baseball, from instructor at the world famous Mickey Owen Baseball School to national team coach to Independent professional baseball, Team USA and teaching around the world, I realized why I wanted to start The Inside Pitch. To give coaches the same opportunity I have had, to learn from the best coaches from all over the world.

Pete as USA Baseball National Team Coach
The foundation of the game lies with our volunteer coaches and assisting in their continual education. This is the main responsibility of any Baseball Organization, governing body or International Federation. For many years I have seen the lack of assistance and knowledge from organizations toward their coaches. This is the reason I have always been active in coaches training programs for volunteer coaches around the world. Through my passion in helping volunteer coaches I designed 5 instructional DVDs specifically to assist in the education of the volunteer coach. As your host, I want to be able to share with coaches, players and parents the unique insights I learned from the very best coaches, teachers, sports psychologists, experts in all areas of the game from all over the world. My friendship and working relationships over all these years have given me team and program changing ideas I want to bring those opportunities to you.If you are the type of coach that believes you have to learn everyday and get better everyday and are committed to the continued growth and improvement of your team or program, then this is the show for you.
If you believe in challenging the status quo and you are always searching for the better way or idea, then this is the show for you. Our show believes in expanding the minds of all coaches. Oliver Wendell Holmes once said, “One’s mind, once stretched by a new idea, never regains its original dimensions.” So, are you prepared to listen to new ideas, techniques and skills that might not be the same that you are currently teaching? Are you willing to change as a coach, and show your players that coaches also learn and that we must learn to change as well? This famous quote in MoneyBall always sticks to the back of my mind when teaching coaches to become a better coach, “If we weren’t already doing it this way, is this the way you would start? Most coaches teach how they have been taught, or how they did it. We want to challenge you to be better then most coaches. Our show will be committed to bringing you the coaches who think outside the box and are always challenging the status quo. I am very passionate in the belief that in order to grow the game, coaches of all levels need to continue their education. If our ultimate goal is to keep players playing longer, introduce the game to new players and help develop the game on a long term basis, then our coaches around the world must continue to get better.

Your host Peter Caliendo
Our shows will be specifically identified as Level 1, Level 2 and Level 3 coaching shows. Level one is for the volunteer coach who does not have a lot of practices, equipment, field time and games.Level two is for the coach who pretty much trains most of the year, has an indoor facility or fields, equipment, is able to practice frequently and plays a lot of games. Level three is for the High School, College, Professional or National Team Coach.
By having level two and three coaches shows we will help challenge their minds, learn, but also they in turn will be able to help the volunteer coaches. With all of us working together in educating coaches at the grass roots level we can grow the game globally. The game would see constant increase of participation instead of a decrease that has occurred in recent years.
If time permits coaches should listen to all the podcasts because there is always information you can get that will benefit your coaching experience. Listening to the shows on a weekly basis will allow you to be a much better coach and teacher. It will allow you to help your kids become better players, enjoy the game and carry over their learning skills into real life. Coaching is a life experience and getting perspectives from coaches all over the world will make you a better coach. Listening to the shows will allow you to operate fun and more productive practices that will result in better games and performance. “The more coaches stretch their minds and become better, the more kids will play the game better and longer”
