Coach Caliendo Interviews the man that patented the Science of Effective Velocity in Hitting and Pitching. Why is effective velocity so important in understanding and knowing how to apply it?. How it can be used to benefit each area if studied and used correctly. The importance of seeing the ball, tracking it, having a plan to hit before you go up to home plate. The ability to see pitchers patterns and used it to your advantage. Why exit velocity is so important and launch angles can be used to help you create a more consistent swing. In hitting having your foot down early or going up with the mentality of seeing the ball and hitting are wrong. They discussed what you see the first ten feet out of the pitcher’s hand, halfway and near contact the contact point. Perry has lots of testing behind these concepts that have helped so many teams have a smarter plan when it comes to pitching and hitting. They discuss how young pitchers should perfect the fastball using effective velocity, this would help them a better release point, mechanics, EV tunnel and get hitters out. If young pitchers understood this science they would not be so quick in developing 3-4 pitches by age 12 which is a detriment to their development. How batting practice is a waste of time if not done properly and at some point you should face moralizing pitching. There is so much to this interview that we may have to do a couple more shows to truly understand this science.
