Most only try to develop players and how they go about their games, most don’t think that coaches also always need to be developed and trained in new ways.
There are always new ways to coaching, especially with the new technology to analyze and break down swings. Coaches always need to stay fresh on information because what may have been right yesterday could be wrong today.
In the second part of her program, Dr. Miller discusses the coaching aspect. In her program she says that it operates “ similar to a closed or private group”.
Dr. Miller explains the coaches program, “ It is a 3 course program, each course lasting 21 days. Right now actually the Minnesota Twins minor league pitching coaches are in the first course of the program”.
She further explains the program by breaking down the courses “The first course is better feed back, less stress. The second is coach as a mentor. The third is leadership and player development”.
Dr. Miller emphasizes that coaches must be “life long learners” and should teach in the process of “ coach to player, coach understanding player, and coach to player development staff”.
